OMAEC Joins in the liturgical feast of St. John Bosco to the liturgical feast of Saint John Bosco

The World Organisation of Former Pupils of Catholic Education – OMAEC – joins in the liturgical feast of St. John Bosco to the liturgical feast of Saint John Bosco, which the Universal Church celebrates today, 31 January, filling the Salesian Family with glory and joy.

This year 2024 is the year of Mary Help of Christians who, according to Salesian tradition, is remembered every 24th of every month on her great feast day, 24 May. It is a year of great significance for the Salesian Family; we are commemorating 200 years of the dream of the 9 years of Juanito Bosco, from which the Preventive System that made Don Bosco the Father and Teacher of Youth originated and in this year the current Rector Major of the Salesian Congregation, H.E.R. Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, will pass from the service of government of the Salesian Congregation to the service of the Universal Church in obedience to H.H. Pope Francis.

These significant events are a matter of concern and joy for us as the World Organisation of Past Pupils of Catholic Education, especially as the two World Confederations of Salesian Past Pupils are co-founders of the OMAEC. We thank God for the Salesian charism and for the other charisms with which the Holy Spirit has enriched the Church, making it One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic.

All our admiration and respect to His Most Reverend Excellency Cardinal Angel Fernandez Artime SDB, who celebrates the feast of Don Bosco as Rector Major, preparing to assume the new service that the Pope assigns him in the government of the Church, the OMAEC wishes him all the blessings of heaven so that, hand in hand with Mary Help of Christians, his service may flourish for the glory of God and the good of Humanity.
