MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF OMAEC

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT OF OMAEC, ALFONSO GIRALDO SAAVEDRA

My first message of recognition and gratitude, as new president of OMAEC, is addressed to each and every one of you and to the different organizations you represent, your participation and dedication in this Assembly, was essential for its success.cuadrado IMG_7929

Likewise, my greetings and gratitude to José Antonio Cecilia and José Ramón Batiste, their generous dedication have certainly made this Assembly an example of organization and efficiency, and Angel Gudiña, who has done an excellent job of moderation and translation.

To Monsignor Luis Arguello, Ecclesiastical Assistant, all my consideration for his spiritual direction and his transparency in the control of the vote.

I am deeply grateful to you for this unwarranted vote of trust that you have offered me to lead, for the next three years, this institution so important for humanity, and I ask the Lord that, with its lights, the love of Mary Help of Christians and the unity of all, we carried the OMAEC to good port.

I am preparing to build a team of effective collaborators, capable of meeting the challenges we have posed (strengthening the participation of young people, encouraging the creation of new national confederations, using virtual means to connect us, among other things, to know the different charisms of our congregations, etc.). We will continue and strengthen what is going on and rectify what can stop us.

This pandemic has not stopped us and will not be able to! The great lesson is the need we have for one another and, as former pupils of Catholic education, we have an imperative: to bear witness to the faith that we profess through a living and active charity in generous devotion to the neediest, who need not only economic resources, but also affection and understanding. We will thus be able to create a more fraternal world.

I put myself at his service and I hope that in this time of waiting, when everything can be filled with goodness and generosity, our hearts will become the migrant and suffering Christ whom we see wandering in the streets of our cities.

With all my affection.
